HEADPHONE CHALLENGE

BOSE vs. APPLE

The noise went from being a little, fuzzy to a full blow on blow up. He couldn’t get those earphones off soon enough. He quickly threw them off the ground as he grabbed his ears and covered them with his hands. Headphones are not like loudspeakers, they’re quite the opposite, they are meant for the soul user to listen to the audio. Whether you call them earphones, headphones, or AirPods, their duty is to give, the listener, better audio, and sound quality.

We went to shop for a new pair of headphones and finally narrowed it down to two choices. We compared the, “Bose Quiet Comfort Wireless Noise Cancellation,” to the, “Apple Over The Ear AirPod Max.” We compared the two in regards to sound quality and noise cancellation, battery life, craftsmanship, and price. It was a hard choice because Bose is known for the quality and sound when it comes to audio. However, we love Apple products, so that’s what we had in mind, but when it comes to music, and tech, you have to have an open mind.

They’re both excellent choices when it comes to high-quality audio and noise control. The, Bose Quiet Comfort Wireless Headphones,” is  known for exceptional quality, and noise cancellation. They definitely delivered with their cancellation capabilities. A very peaceful surrounding listening environment that blocked out everything around you. You could easily shut the outside world off with no distractions. You can easily control everything around with the high fidelity audio and adjustable EQ audio. The EQ audio allows you to control the bass, treble, and range. Custom tune technology offers you a personalized sound. Microphone focuses on the sound of your voice and the noise canceling headphones with mic filters out background noise for the clearest phone calls of any Bose headphones.

Bose Quiet Comfort Wireless Noise Cancellation

The, “Apple Over The Ear AirPods Max,” had top notch noise cancellation. The high fidelity blocks out any outside noise around you. It’s like having your own personal surround sound system. Once you put those headphones on, you not only cancel out the world, but you’re in a peaceful Xen. There are nine microphones and eight are for noise cancellation. There’s no distortion, even when it’s cracked up. Computational audio combines custom acoustic design with the Apple H1 chip and software for breakthrough listening experiences. Personalized Spatial Audio, making the a sound that suits your unique ear shape along with dynamic head tracking, AirPods Max deliver an immersive listening experience So if you’re picky when it comes to noise quality the, Apple Over The Ear AirPod Max,” is unbelievable.

Both sync with Bluetooth. When we put the challenge of battery life to the test, it was close. Bose might have won this one. Apple missed not only by a few less hours when it came to battery life,  Bose has a battery life of 24 hours, and the Apple battery life is 20 hours. The Apple AirPod Max headphones don’t come with 3.5mm headphone jack. So, you have to rely solely on Bluetooth. It’s nice that Apple comes with a tangle free cord, audio sharing with all its devices, and the microphone is included. Bose also has a microphone included. Is that enough?

What about the craftsmanship? Bose has SimpleSync allowing you to sync with a Bose smart soundbar so you can listen to TV at your own volume. Touch controls on each earcup allow you to change volume, skip tracks, answer calls and change modes; you can also turn the Bluetooth headphones on/off simply with head motions. Durable enough comfort with plastic ear cups. They have ear direction and pair fast. They come with ear pad replacements, that’s very nice and adjustable headband. However, The quality and craftsmanship is hard to beat when it comes to Apple.

Hands down it’s Apple. Exceptional comfort, the earphones have memory foam and cup to your ears as if they were customized just for you. There’s a touch control system, making things beyond easy. If you have a call, simply touch the headphone once. The device seamlessly integrates with all your Apple device, hassle free. Crystal clear phone calls. Transparency mode lets you hear and interact with the world.  Did we mention extremely comfortable? They don’t fall off your head or irritate your ears.Designed with a knit-mesh canopy and memory foam ear cushions for an exceptional over-ear fit that perfectly seals in sound. Digital Crown lets you play and pause music, to answer, end, and mute yourself on calls, and to control volume and skip between tracks.Feels as if those headphones were customized just for you. On the negative, the carry case should be made better. For such a pricy pair of headphones it seems as if it would have more of a sturdy case.

One of the most important comparison was price. Comparing the “Bose Quiet Comfort Wireless Headphones,” which is around $379, and the “Apple Over The Ears AirPods Max.”which is  around $519, the price difference makes you really stop and think. We went back and forth between the negatives and positives for both headsets. Apple is known for their premium build, and Bose is a top brand with a great reputation when it comes to music gear. Hmmm…

They are both excellent choices. Bose held its own when it came to sound quality and noise cancellation. Unexpectedly, Apple was just a bit better. Bose battery life wins, not just because it has four more hours than Apple, Apple doesn’t come with a 3.5mm  port. Bose has a better carry case, and has an extra ear pad replacement. Minus the battery life being 4 hours less than Bose and the fact that it doesn’t come with a 3.5 mm port, which means buying one for $35, it was worth a couple hundred more dollars. You just can’t be the quality and craftsmanship and the sound cancellation combined with the audio quality were unbeatable. The extremely comfortable feeling of a customize system making it as if it was customized just for you. The way the earphones fit as if they were made for your ears only. Bose delivered with noise canceling and audio quality, it has a better carry case, more battery life, and it’s a great brand.

So, when it came down to make the decision between the, “Bose Quiet Comfort Wireless Headphones,” and the, “Apples Over The Head Earphones AirPods Max,” As far as affordability, Apple is worth the price. It checked the most important boxes, and Apple just makes addicting products. We are extremely happy with the purchase. They’re perfect in studio and out of the studio. They’re great for gaming, listening to music, and everything else in between. As far as we were concerned, it was hard to beat the benefits the Apple offered.

IT'S NOT JUST A GUITAR

TECH-MUSIC    DON'T  LET  GO  OF  A  CLASSIC When I hear someone say,  "If you love something set it free and if it returns to you it was meant to be."  The first thought that comes to my mind is,  "That's a load of crap."   I would never think that. Especially when it comes to guitars. I owned a classic  Gibson Jimi Hendrix Flying V.  with his signature signed in gold. I sold that out of desperation...and it never came back. Then once again it happened. I owned another classic, a  Steve  Vai  guitar, the one with the handle on it, the color was all wrong, but I didn't care. I just thought it was cool. Well, coolness had to go. That, like  The Flying V.   never came back to me. Now, decades later, the price on both those guitars had ballooned to astronomical figures. As different as these two guitars are aesthetically, the sound was were it was at.  Either one of these guitars could melt the paint off
